If an employer has two candidates they are choosing from, your email address could play a part in getting an interview or not.

I am presently an employee for the United States Government on a seasonal employment basis expecting to face a layoff soon.
My employer has been cutting back on converting employees on a seasonal basis to permanent employment due to government budget cutbacks.
I am seeking employment with the small businesses in manufacturing or technical related.
Can you please advise me on how I could explain my situation to a perspective employer?

Thank you.

I agree that it is important to adjust your resume to the job you are applying for. I think hiring managers know someone that is just feeding them a resume versus someone who really put in time to showcase their skills.

I've had luck writing shorter e-mails with some quick ways for businesses to contact me with some luck. Sometimes its better to get right to the point and your skills then to outline everything. Thanks for the article link.

Thanks for the article. I agree with #1. I have tried to tailor my resume to the business I am submitting it to...it helps get you noticed and they can identify the skills you have that are relevant to them. Even if my skills are in another area, I try to highlight ones that might useful to the company.
